MAY 8, 2013:
Meeting called to order by President Roz followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
First order of business was to thank the new members for joining and attending. She reminded members to either get their pictures to Anita or Ronnie, or make a date to have one taken so that the website can be updated.
Congratulations was in order for all that attended Gamblers Classic and brought home the Participation Award (5th Year Running). Interesting conversation was overheard.. another car club vowed to break our winning streak next year. We had allot of winners: The Tanabe's, the Skillmans, The Piraino's, Cheryl V, etc.
Thanks was given to those club members that helped pulled over to help out our fellow members on the Camp Williams & Laughlin caravan. Ed Morgan saved the day for Joe Trunk while several cars pulled over to render aid to Randy and Rosie. Fortunately, it was not needed. Way to go members, it's great to see that care and concern. Thanks were also given to Rosemary & Patty for making the club Tiara's, and to Bill Denny for his design with the T-Shirts. The last thank you was to Al for leading the group.
Club Secretary Cheryl was called to read the minutes. She asked Randy to speak about the Ojai Wine Festival. This trip is being cancelled due to low participation. Don Holtz then spoke about the Elks Lodge in Big Bear, however, due to low participation, we will not have a planned group dinner... consider it cancelled. Everyone will just get to gether at a local restaurant. Jack will once again serve as host and coordinator for CASINO NIGHT! Dan & Helen Gross would like to host a New Year's eve pajama party as welll as the Christmas Brunch.
VP Huben spoke of the great time he had in Laughlin, and his plans for the Luau Themed Installation Banquet. Kathy reminded everyone of upcoming trips: Temecula Car Show, caravan to the Corvette Diner and Plastic Fantastic.
Anita & myself had no comments, so at that time all Laughlin attendees posed for a group picture with the participation award. Dorothy did not have any membership news updates and Don Meyers reminded us that the social will be at Canyon City BBQ in Azusa.
Char, recovering from surgery, forgot her book and therefore did not provide a treasurer's report. Nevertheless, it was good to have her back with us. Sunshine gal Libby corrected a previous message, the DeLeon's are not grandparents, but did welcome a new baby relative into the family. Ralph reminded everyone of the get together at Legends, and Don Holtz told a light hearted joke with Al Lundgren being the focus.
Club members (and Elk members) Leif and Debbie Hagman aka "Hells Kitchen" will not be cooking in May, but they are back on schedule for JUNE! Remember, they cook for the Elks the 2nd Sunday of each month at the Elks Lodge. Come out and support your club members.
New Business: Marie Murphy informed us that she will no longer be providing the embroidery for the club. If you know of anyone, please let a board member know.
April birthday winner of a $10 Cold Stone Gift Card was Bernie Mizrahi. Happy Birthday to all our April birthday celebrants.
Debbie Garr did not have her name tag on when her name was pulled in the Name Tag drawing.
Patty Theissen was the lucky winner of the 50/50 drawing.
The board will meet on the 8th.
The social will be on the 15th.
Thanks to the Elks Club for providing us with a convenient place to hold our meetings and for a delicious apricot roast pork dinner. Thanks to all of our board members who continue to do a great job in keeping this club going. We have a great club. Let's continue to have a lot of good times together.
See you at the next general meeting on Wednesday, June 5 , 2013.
Ronnie
